- What do you need to know, when most of recorded knowledge is a mouse-click away?
I think it is becoming increasingly challenging to show students the value of increasing their knowledge in the classroom because they know that a lot of information is readily available on the computer.
- How do you distinguish between good knowledge and bad knowledge?
Students have MUCH faith in whatever is out there online. Since it is so easy to post information online, we need to be more and more diligent about teaching students how to evaluate all information they find.
In addition to these two items, I am finding it more and more difficult to show students the value of reading a piece of literature. There seem to be fewer readers every year. With so many books being made into movies, online news sources, and online cliffnotes being available to students, it feels as though they do not see the point in taking the time to actually read anymore. While the shift to technology is exciting, it also creates the need for a new type of instruction.
